About this workshop

Cities of Kanazawa and Nancy are historically coupled since 1973 and they celebrated their 40 years of town twinning.

In this context, an idea of town twinning between the laboratory JAIST (Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) and the LORIA (Laboratoire lOrrain de Recherche en Informatique et ses applications) is born. Indeed, these two laboratories are recognized at international level for their scientific excellence and lived a similar evolution in the last twenty years.

This partnership aims mainly at establishing an institutional cooperation thanks to common scientific projets, university relations (gratitude of diplomas, supervision of PhD students), exchanges of people : researchers, teachers and students.

A first workshop took already place in the city of Kanazawa in April 2014. It’s now for the city of Nancy to welcome the researchers. Moreover, the workshop will take place just before the week-end of October 5th and 6th, which is also the date of the « Semi-Marathon » of Grand Nancy.
